Peer Review Process
Stage One: Initial Inquiry
Because of the large number of inquiries Witan Publishing receives, the first stage is an initial inquiry. If Witan is interested in pursuing your project, you will be contacted within 30 days. Witan will not accept work under review by another publisher.
Stage Two: Proposal Submission
If your work is selected for further review, you will be asked to send a more complete proposal submission for double-blind peer review, including a sample chapter and a detailed breakdown of the rest of the book. At least three peer reviewers will examine the text and will make a recommendation in one of three categories: Accept, Revise & Resubmit, or Reject. If a proposal is accepted, it will be assigned an editor who will work with the author. If the recommendation is for Revise & Resubmit, peer reviewers will request major changes that will then have to undergo further peer review.
Stage Three: Development
If a text has been accepted, authors will work with an editor to produce a complete final version. Once this version has been completed, it will be reviewed for scholarly rigor. Once it has passed this final hurdle, our Technical Editing Department will send the author a “camera-ready” version for approval. Once approved by the author, Witan Publishing will distribute the work, and it should be available at major online booksellers within days.
